Dr. Alkhalidy is currently a Research Scientist specialising in molecular and cellular nutrition, with expertise in the identification and mechanistic characterisation of dietary bioactive compounds and their roles in the prevention and management of chronic diseases. Her research integrates epidemiological, clinical, and experimental approaches to investigate metabolic disorders, with a particular focus on obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. Her work has advanced the understanding of the biological activities and molecular mechanisms of plant-derived phytochemicals, particularly flavonoids and phenolic compounds, in regulating glucose homeostasis and improving insulin sensitivity. Using complementary ex vivo and in vivo models, she has identified bioactive compounds with promising therapeutic potential for the management of metabolic diseases. In addition, her research has contributed to the development and evaluation of effective obesity assessment tools and approaches for identifying metabolic syndrome and predicting chronic disease risk.
