Biography:

Seema Mishra is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Lucknow and has held academic affiliations with the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research (UFZ), Germany; the University of Konstanz, Germany; and the Biology Center of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic. Her research centers on environmental chemistry, with particular emphasis on the behavior of metals and metalloids in soil-water-plant systems and the mechanisms underlying their phytotoxicity. She has made significant contributions to elucidating arsenic metabolism at the biophysical and biochemical levels, including its speciation, biotransformation, localization, and compartmentalization in plants. Her current research investigates the dynamics of arsenic release in soil and its uptake by crop plants, nutrient-element-based strategies for mitigating arsenic contamination in agricultural systems, and the impacts of climate change on the hydrogeochemistry of Indian aquifers.
